2018 Kitchen Trends

A new year is fast approaching and, with that, a whole new set of trends that you can use as inspiration for your home. It’s pretty exciting! Here at Bluelime Home Design, we’ve had tons of fun checking out the kitchen trends for 2018 and have racked up some of our favourites for you to enjoy!

Let Your Floor Do the Talking

2018 is the year that we turn design on its head, working from the floor up rather than the cupboards down. Start with a statement floor that’ll really get people talking, base the rest of your kitchen around this centerpiece. We love a funky patterned tile paired with more stripped back units – it’s a great combination!

Pendant Lighting

For kitchen trends that will last, be sure to take a peep at pendant lighting. We reckon this one’s going to be around for some time. Pendant lighting is when lights hang from the ceiling on a far longer cord than usual, and they became more of a statement feature as well as functional. It’s a great way to be a bit bolder in your design and give your kitchen that chic appeal.

Grey Kitchen Trends 2018

A UK kitchen trend for 2018 that’s going to be sweeping its way across walls and cabinets of a whole lot of homes is grey. Grey?! You heard! Grey has had its bad reputation for being a bit dull, but, in fact it’s a gorgeous, timeless shade that is super versatile in the home. From blue-toned to something a bit darker, grey’s going to become your kitchen’s best friend in 2018 – and beyond!

Open Shelving

We love a bit of open shelving at Bluelime Home Design and this definitely isn’t a kitchen trend to avoid in 2018 – not in our books anyway. Whether you go for a simple shelving unit with no cabinets or a glass-fronted unit, bring your shelves into the light and open up your kitchen. Not only will this make your room look lighter and more spacious, the shelves also become a great design feature where you can showcase your favourite appliances and cookbooks.

Pecky Cypress

If you’re all about that vintage wood look, you’re going to love Pecky Cypress. With a very grainy texture and beautiful, natural colour, this wood is perfect for that ‘reclaimed’ look, this is something that has been all over the home trends for the past couple of years. Give your kitchen a rustic makeover with a bit of Pecky Express.
