Kitchen Layout Designs
These days, kitchens can be the social hub of the home. They’re a place where you teach your children to cook, laugh with your closest friends and relax for a family meal; a lot of people don’t even have a living room anymore! The kitchen is all you need. This is why it’s important to look closely at your kitchen design.
The room you once used solely for cooking can be turned into a wonderful space if you know what you’re doing with design. To help you make the best kitchen for your home and family, our team at Bluelime Home Design have put together a guide with all the kitchen design layouts you need to know.
I Shaped Kitchen Layouts
Also known as the galley layout, I shaped kitchen layouts incorporate a single row of units, though it can also have two single rows running parallel to each other. For narrow rooms, this is a great choice as it doesn’t close in a space and leaves plenty of room for cooking and cleaning. It’s also great in open-place areas and can add a modern, spacious feel to a home.
U Shaped Kitchen Layouts
U shaped kitchen layouts are a great, practical option that are perfect for medium-sized kitchen layout plans. The design incorporates three rows of units that go around three of the walls. It gives a great worktop space and you can be a bit more clever with the spacing's of your appliances than you can with I shaped kitchens.
If you go for a U shaped kitchen design, don’t forget to make the most of those corner cupboards with some clever storage!
L Shaped Kitchen Layouts
If you want kitchen remodel ideas that make a room feel more open and spacious, but you don’t want to be restricted to just one row of units like with I shaped kitchen layout, the L shaped option may be just the one for you.
This is made up of two rows of units along two adjacent walls. The shape is, as expected, like an ‘L’. They can be a little tricky to work with, but if you’ve got a lot of space and use some clever design, they’re great!
Include an Island in your Kitchen Design
If you’ve got the space, including an island in either L shaped or I shaped kitchen layout plans is a great way to maximise space. It can create a social area for people to sit and enjoy their food or chat whilst you cook, opening up the potential of your kitchen. Great for entertaining or just spending more time with your family, an island can transform a kitchen design.
