Living in Welling
Affordable homes, good grammar schools and plenty of parks and open spaces make Bexley one of London’s most underrated boroughs and an excellent choice for families in particular. Welling itself is just over half an hour’s commute from three central London stations and close to two major shopping centres, yet retains a small town feel. The town’s beautiful Danson Park, a lovely place for a walk or a boat ride on the lake, is one of the best attractions in the borough.
As local architects, we have a long-standing relationship with Bexley Council and a number of trusted builders in the area, from whom we always obtain several quotes so we can get both the best value and the best quality for you. We’re well versed in the council’s planning policies and have plenty of experience in designing homes that meet both your needs and their requirements.

Planning applications in Welling
Bexley Council is the planning authority for Welling. You will usually need to apply to the council for planning permission to extend or alter your home or build a new home. The charges for this are set by the government:
£206 for an extension
£462 for a new home, or a conversion of another type of building into a home (though nowadays some types of conversion don’t require planning permission).
The council can advise you on your application as part of the process. This costs £90 for a letter, or £115 for a meeting of up to an hour.
